Annual global data traffic is predicted to exceed 750 billion gigabytes in 2014 with an expected annual growth rate of 50 percent year after year. Most of this growth will be in the mobile environment as more people begin using smartphones and viewing and exchanging ever more complex media such as streaming video. In addition, unlike voice, there is no inherent limit in per-user demand for data. For example, streaming high definition video may require a throughput of several megabits per second – the loading equivalent of hundreds of voice calls.
As smartphones, netbooks, and other tethered devices consume rich mobile data, carriers will need to address network-capacity constraints.
We believe carriers will need to address the explosion in mobile data traffic through better network design and optimization, increased cell-site density, more efficient use of spectrum, and other methods.
MobileAllies helps our clients address the explosion in mobile data traffic through a wide range of solutions and services.
